Collaboration between SUNLIFE®, Dongloi GmbH, and SBFT to develop healthy food products for the Vietnamese market.

The School of Biotechnology and Food Technology welcomed and worked with a delegation from SUNLIFE® and Dongloi GmbH from Germany on September 28, 2022. During the meeting, the parties exchanged information and looked for opportunities for collaboration in the research and development of suitable health food products for the Vietnamese market.

Mr. René Dölz and Mr. Antonius Ipek are the export managers and directors at SUNLIFE®. Mr. Dang Duong, CEO of Dongloi GmbH in Germany, and Mr. Tran Cuong, CEO of Dongloi USA. The parties discussed their areas of interest, product research and development capabilities, and future cooperation requirements.

Dongloi GmbH (https://dongloi.de) is a Cologne-based company that specializes in the import and export of agricultural products, food, health food, consulting, and technology transfer between Germany and Southeast Asia. Dongloi GmbH has been collaborating with the School of Biotechnology & Food Technology since 2017. During the first phase, the two sides collaborated on projects that connected German experts with experts from the School of Biotechnology and Food Technology at Hanoi University of Science and Technology to organize an intensive seminar on enhancing added value from chitin and chitosan, as well as implementing a pilot project to produce biofertiliser from chitosan used in agriculture. Currently, the two parties are working together to develop products derived from chitin and chitosan with the goal of exporting raw materials for health food. Dongloi GmbH highly appreciates with the preliminary results and looks forward to continued effective collaboration with many reputable partners especially after the COVID19 pandemic.

SUNLIFE® (https://sunlife-online.de) is an international trading and manufacturing company based in Hövelhof, Germany that specializes in health food, medical equipment, and cosmetics. The company has a strong annual turnover of approximately 150 million euros.

Welcoming and exchanging views with experts from Dongloi GmbH and SUNLIFE®, the Board of Directors and experts from the School of Biotechnology & Food Technology discussed and shared the strengths of the parties, including research and training, manufacturing.

The German delegation also paid visits to the Center for Research and Development in Biotechnology and the Center for Training and Development of Food Products. These are facilities outfitted with cutting-edge equipment in the fields of biology and food, ranging from laboratory to pilot scale. The delegation was briefly explained on the facilities, research capacity, training, and collaboration with domestic and foreign enterprises. The center has been upgraded to carry out R&D projects for domestic and foreign enterprises.

Dr. Nguyen Tien Thanh, Director of the Center for Research and Development in Biotechnology, presented and discussed the Center’s research capabilities and projects.

Dr. Pham Ngoc Hung, Director of the Center for Training and Development of Food Products, introduced the Center’s facilities, training programs, and research projects.
