4. Description of the training program
Biotechnology Engineers use multiple fields of knowledge and skills to connect the two areas of Life Science and Technology to fulfill the mission “Bringing engineering to life” through converting the capacities of biological materials into the products needed for human life. Successful design and mastery of production technology are based on exploiting the metabolic capacity of biological agents, enabling the transformation of these biological agents’ product-making capabilities into products. This is the key to building a successful biotechnology industry. Areas of Biotechnology include selection or creation of biological agents from organisms, technological design and operation of the fermentation system corresponding to the selected biological agents, establishment of technology to convert biological materials into products and recover these products with a certain degree of purity; structured into biological products to serve food industry, pharmaceutical industry, agriculture, environmental protection and others.Bioengineering graduates have the ability to master the specific technologies of biotechnology, including from working with biological agents (at the molecular or cellular level created by recombinant DNA technology), to designing and managing technology and production systems.
Some work that graduates of the Bioengineering undergraduate program includes:
- Participating in teaching, research, and product development in the fields of biotechnology, food and environment at universities and research institutes;
- Designing technology for manufacturing biotechnology products, organizing, managing, and operating the production and trading of biological products, environmental technology, agriculture, and healthcare;
- Operating and maintening of biotechnology equipment and related fields
